what is the Significance of the bilva patra leave?

Firstly, Bel tree is considered a very sacred and holy tree in the Hindu religion. The leaves of this tree are generally trifolic–a leaf that’s divided into three leaflets–which are believed to represent the ‘trinetra’ or three eyes of lord Shiva.

According to Hindu mythology, the leaf also represents the holy trinity–Bramha, Vishnu and Mahesh i.e. Shiva. In addition to all the symbolisms attributed to the deeply revered Bel leaf (bilvashtakam) or Bel patra, it is also known to be lord Shiva’s favourite.
Shiva Purana regards this leaf as one of the six divine articles that are used to worship lord Shiva. It is also used in the worship of many Hindu deities.

The devi named it ‘Bilva’ and is said to reside in the tree, in all her forms. Since every part of Bel tree is said to contain goddess Parvati, it is considered the ideal tree to worship lord Shiva. It is said that even if one touches the Bel patra, he/she is freed from all negativity, sins and ailments.

 

MEDICINAL IMPORTANCE OF BILVA.....!

Hindu texts and scriptures are full of narrations of the medicinal and healing properties of Bel patra. Its trifoliate shape signifies the three gunas (components), namely the Sattva, Rajas and Tamas. Sattva component is said to be the positive energy, while the Tamas is the negative force. Bel leaf functions as natural antibiotic and antifungal, and is extremely beneficial for health.

Finally, We can say Bilva have lot of Significance in Hinduism.

In otherwords, The most preferred direction is the Northeast direction. Because, Northeast direction is called “Ishanya” which means the place for Lord Shiva.
